SEO vs SEM

While the terms “SEO” and “SEM” are often used interchangeably, these terms are actually referring to two different things!

The main difference between search engine optimization (SEO) and search engine marketing (SEM) is that SEO focuses on getting traffic from organic search, whereas SEM focuses on getting traffic from paid search. SEO focuses more on long-term results, while SEM focuses on achieving immediate results.

While both are important to include in a well-rounded marketing strategy, SEO will eventually be a FREE source of web traffic and leads (if done correctly), whereas SEM requires spending advertising dollars into perpetuity.
